  • Cayuse, Viognier, Cailloux Vineyard, Walla Walla 2014

    $75.00

“What I think might be one of the finest Viogniers made in the New World, the 2014 Viognier Cailloux Vineyard offers a sensational, Condrieu-like bouquet of white flowers, tangerine, citrus and hints of apricot. Brought up in a mix of concrete tanks, stainless steel and neutral barrels, drink this medium-bodied, fresh, gorgeously layered white over the coming 4-5 years.”  -94 RP

  • Chateau Montelena, Napa 2011

    $79.00

“You know you’re doing something right when, after 45 years of Chardonnay winemaking, they name a California Chardonnay style after your winery, the “Montelena style.” In short, it means a non-malolactic, minimally oaked Chardonnay. This estate has long made one of the best examples of a quiet, restrained Chardonnay that ages for 20 or more years. Montelena’s 2012 Chardonnay possesses zesty acidity as well as hints of white currants, delicate wood, tangerine oil and spice. Long and zesty with no noticeable oak (despite its barrel aging), it should drink well for 10-15 years.”-90+WA

  • Domaine Zind Humbrecht, Riesling, Brand, Grand Cru 2016

    $120.00

“From 66-year-old vines on the south-facing granite soils of the steep and low-yielding cru (34 hectoliters per hectare), the yellow-golden 2016 Alsace Grand Cru Brand Riesling is clear, fresh and pure on the deep, ripe and mineral nose. On the palate, this is an intense, lush and elegant Riesling with a firm, mineral structure, fine acidity and a very long, salty finish with lots of power, grip and mineral expression. This is a dense and concentrated Brand that is far too young to be enjoyed today, but its aging potential should be enormous (as always), particularly in 2016 due to its very tight and mineral structure. “In 2016, the grapes were healthy, ripened early (an exception in that vintage), and the Brand fermented slowly, but the yeasts went to the end of their task,” says Olivier Humbrecht, who finds his 2016 Brand pretty delicate compared to the often rather richer style of this steep grand cru. Tasted June 2018.” -94 RP

  • Henri Bourgeois, Cote de Mont Damnes, Sancerre

    $45.00

“The lime-green 2013 Sancerre Les Baronnes is a modern classic of the region and a good example to demonstrate the polished aromatic yet authentic, pure and elegant style of Henri Bourgeois’ wines. Sourced from chalky clay soils of the hills separating Sancerre from Chavignol this medium-bodied, juicy yet minerally structured and zesty Sauvignon from 20-to 40-year-old vines offers attractive white fruit flavors intertwined with piquant citrus aromas and dusty chalk flavors. This is a very pleasant, well-balanced, already accessible and stimulating Sancerre of good intensity and quality with lovely citrus flavors also in the finish and aftertaste.”-90WA
