“This is the first vintage of this wine to be bottled on its own—it’s usually blended into the Zinfandel Old Vines bottling. Fruit comes from own-rooted vines planted in 1971, which were ripped out in 2017, so this wine is a tribute to those old vines. Pale to medium ruby-purple in the glass, the 2017 Zinfandel Bohan Ranch has a very elegant nose of dried rose petal and lilac with wonderful candied peach, dried blueberries and red licorice over a concentrated core of lush red, black and blue fruits. Light to medium-bodied, it gives very sexy floral and spicy nuances in the mouth over intense fruit layers, with very fine, granulated tannins and juicy acidity to lift the long, layered finish.” – 94+WA
