“A slightly riper nose is not quite as elegant but it’s even more complex and much more floral with its mix of pear, apple, passion fruit and spicy white peach. There is better mid-palate volume though not the same minerality suffusing the medium-bodied flavors that possess a highly refined texture, all wrapped in a beautifully long finale. This will also need time in bottle to develop better depth, but the potential appears to be present.”-(90-93)BH♥, Outstanding
It would be an understatement to claim that Domaine Jacques Prieur’s vineyard holdings are great. The domaine is the only property in Burgundy to own vineyards in five of the region’s most famous Grand Cru vineyards: Le Montrachet, Le Corton, Les Echézeaux, Le Musigny and Le Chambertin. The domaine holds vineyards in 17 other prestigious appellations for a total of 51 acres under vine.
Founded in 1956, today the domaine is owned by the charming, understated Edouard Labruyère. Pristine vineyards are impeccably maintained to produce fruit of exquisite quality. The winery and domaine have been undergoing renovation since the Labruyère family purchased the domaine and today the winery has facilities equal to the best in the world.
Each parcel is vinified separately to reveal its essential character. The winemaker is the remarkable, highly respected Nadine Gublin, named “Winemaker of the Year” in 1997 by the Revue du Vin de France, the country’s leading wine journal.
