Hither & Yon, Petit Blanc, Mclaren Vale, Australia 2022

“The 2022 Petit Blanc is made from dry Muscat Blanc (Muscat Blanc a’ Petit Grains, planted 1981) and is a super floral, lively, joyful rendition. The wine was fermented to fully dry and matured for 12 weeks in stainless steel (destemmed, two hours of skin contact, gentle pressings addition), and I think you’d be hard-pressed to find a more delicious, floral summer wine if you tried. Freshness is the name of the game here—drink it in the next 12 months to capture the joy and beauty I see here today. Yum. (Through the lingering finish, there’s a soft, pink musk stick character that hangs around, and there’s also nashi pear, white tea and saline acidity. As I say, very pretty.)”-90WA

Hither & Yon was started by the Leask brothers. Richard is the outside man, farmer and maker; Malcolm is the inside guy, director and creator. What started as their “bottle project” in 2011 has now endured and sprouted into a much-loved wine brand.

Richard and Malcolm were bred into wine. Firstly, their birth place in the Hunter Valley, and now, home is McLaren Vale after their parents acquired their first patch here in 1980. Since then, together, they have been able to group a selection of vineyards spread across this wonderful region, between hills & sea, under their own family estate.
