The area of Volpaia is a unique terroir in Chianti Classico. The vineyards consist of about 45 hectares and are over 400 meters above sea level. They are on predominantly sandstone soils rich in fossils producing elegant and long-lived reds.
Volpaia’s interest in clonal selection has led to the rediscovery and re-engagement of ancient indigenous Sangiovese strains.
