François Millet et Fils is a family-run estate founded in 2016 by François Millet, the former chief winemaker at the legendary Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé in Chambolle-Musigny. After over three decades crafting some of Burgundy’s most revered wines, François now works alongside his wife Michelle and their two sons, Julien and Adrien, producing their own label from their home in Chambolle, overlooking the premier cru vineyards of Les Feusselottes. The family converted their garage into a cellar, creating a true artisanal operation. François applies his extensive experience to both reds and whites, using only older barrels for aging and a minimal-intervention approach that emphasizes purity and precision. The reds are crafted with gentle extraction, 100% destemmed grapes, and extended aging, while the whites showcase François’s expertise with a delicate touch, offering minerality without new oak influence. The result is a range of wines that reflect the family’s commitment to elegance, tradition, and the unique terroir of Burgundy.
Francois Millet & Fils Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Petite Vigne is a wine with an ultra-fresh, cool, and bright nose, featuring aromas of red Pinot fruit, floral notes, and earthy hints. The flavors are racy and beautifully detailed, though not particularly dense, with a refreshing, clean, and relatively fine finish that reveals a hint of bitter pit fruit. Best enjoyed young to appreciate its vibrant fruit character, this wine comes from the village of Segrois, facing west on the other side of the hill from Chambolle when driving up the combe. The vineyard’s soil is composed of limestone debris at an elevation of 345 meters, contributing to its floral, mineral tension, and ethereal red fruit profile. The winemaking process involves only bucket transfers to preserve the wine’s identity, avoiding punch downs to maintain its delicate structure.
