“The 2018 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast comes partly from the Yu-ki vineyard and partly from the Campbell Ranch vineyard, and was aged in 18% new French oak. Medium ruby in color, it is scented of wild berries and rhubarb with pure notes of dried herbs, citrus and floral perfume. The medium-bodied palate is silky and fresh with intense, spicy fruits and a long, layered finish. 1,250 cases produced.”-93WA, 2021-2027
Since 2010, Freeman has sourced Dijon clone 777 from Campbell Ranch near Annapolis, in the far northwestern reaches of Sonoma County. The Valdez family farms the vineyard (the longtime vineyard manager, Ulises Valdez, sadly passed away during the 2018 vintage), and this fruit is always a highlight in the Sonoma Coast blend.
