Tommasi has proudly presided over Italy’s Veneto region for over 120 years, with wines that are both renowned for their superior quality and consistently regarded as reference points for their respective appellations. Established in 1902, the Tommasi estate was a driving force behind the development of the wine industry in the Veneto and continues to work tirelessly to promote the unique characteristics of the region’s grape varieties.
Tommasi is now run by the fourth generation of the family — six siblings and cousins currently share responsibilities at the winery. Giancarlo Tommasi is the principal winemaker, and studied winemaking at the University of Udine in Friuli. Strict in his philosophy to respect the integrity of the terroir and the traditional ways of winemaking in the Veneto, he upholds a classic approach to all wines, favoring elegance and balance while paying homage to the winemaking traditions of his ancestors.
As one of the single most influential producers in Italy, Tommasi has gradually expanded its holdings to include some of the most prized vineyard sites in the Valpolicella Classico DOC, and, most recently, the Lugana DOC, all the while committing to sustainable practices and continuing to craft each wine from 100% estate-owned vineyards.
Tommasi’s traditional approach to Amarone favors elegance and balance, with deep fruit complemented by spicy, earthy flavors. The grapes come from the family’s choicest plots in the Valpolicella Classica region. Through its commitment to quality and tradition, Tommasi has established itself as one of the principal ambassadors of Amarone in the world.
